Are Beef Tracheas healthy for my dog?

You may ask what is a beef trachea, well it is a cow’s windpipe. They may also be known as ‘Moo Tubes’. They are hard and chewy and have a slight smell to them.

Are Beef Tracheas healthy for my dog?

Yes they are very healthy for your dog. They are lower in fat around 20-25% and high in protein at around 50%. They are a great treat with many health benefits such as -

Chondroitin and Glucosamine - Beef Tracheas are packed full of the vital vitamins your dog needs. These are essential for healthy joints and bones, especially elderly dogs or dogs with arthritis and joint issues.

No added nasties - Our Beef Tracheas are 100% natural meaning no additives, colouring or preservatives are added, making them very healthy for your dog and easily digestible.

Gluten & Grain Free - They are free from Gluten and Grain meaning they are great for all dogs.

Low Odour - They have a slight odour however it isn't very strong or nasty therefore they are great to give inside and a little better on our noses!

Dental Health - Beef Tracheas are a longer lasting treat meaning they are good for cleaning your dog’s teeth. They are a hard chewy treat meaning your dog has to gnaw down over a period of time this helps to remove plaque and tartar of your dog's teeth leading to better dental health and a fresh breath.

Suitable for puppies - Beef Tracheas are suitable from 12 weeks of age due to them not containing bone. These are a great chew to keep your puppy entertained and provide them with mental stimulation which in turn tires them out.

Enrichment - They are great to give to your dog for mental stimulation as they are longer lasting however if you would like to make it harder for them then you can stuff and freeze them with either their favourite foods or the meal. This is a great way to get your dog’s brain working which helps them to feel satisfied and tired.

Allergies and Sensitivities - Beef Tracheas are great for dogs with allergies and sensitivities as they are a single source protein and no added nasties. They are also easily digestible, helping to prevent stomach upset.

Free From Rawhide - Beef Tracheas are 100% Rawhide FREE meaning no nasties are given to your dog.

High in Collagen - They are packed full of collagen which helps with joints, bones and skin. It helps to maintain the overall connective tissue maintenance and keeps all the essential oils within the skin. Collagen is also great for the digestive system as it helps to break down the proteins leading to better digestive health. Plus it helps to balance the stomach acidity levels.

How much Beef Trachea should I feed my dog?

Well that’s a good question, typically your dog can eat the whole trachea. However each dog is different, for example one of our dogs can eat the whole trachea and is fine but our other dog can only eat half, otherwise it causes her stomach to be upset due to the fat content. Every dog is different and you know your dog best. Typically with treats it is a guideline that you give no more than 10% of their daily food intake. On average a 25cm Trachea contains 500-550 calories each.

We sell the Beef Tracheas separate and in our popular Power Chew Variety pack which consists of other longer lasting chews such as Paddywack, Cow Ears, Lamb Trotters and Moon Bones

Our dogs love Beef Tracheas and we have seen an improvement in their dental health since feeding them. Their teeth are healthy and they have a fresh breath.
